What is True-Terrain 5?

True-Terrain 5 is a complete rebuild from the culmination of 5 years of feedback and development; from November 2018 to today, we've gone through 4 major revisions, and hundreds of updates. All of this has resulted what is now the most advanced, accurate and feature rich environment creation tool ever built for Blender.

Layer System

True-Terrain 5 has overhauled the geometry and shader system (scattering to come) to be the most intuitive system available for Blender. We've rebuilt from the ground up, a brand new "layer" system for both, which allows the user to add new layers to modify the overall look.

The new layer system is a familiar method for all artists, on how to manipulate a canvas. The layer system in True-Terrain allows users to 'stack' data on top of one another in ways that allow for the ultimate control.

Geometry Layers

For geometry, we had to come up with a new system. The core of any good terrain or landscape is the geometry, and this needed to be totally redesigned to fit with the goal we had for making the ultimate tool.

Geometry is built around Geometry-nodes which allows us to build a system for infinite possibilities and modularity. No longer will you be stuck with the mesh you made at the start; now you can edit non-destructively at any point in the design process.
